Rylan Clark admits 'might as well put a ring on it' as Rob Rinder is 'all over him'

Rylan Clark has been open about his search for love on his BBC podcast series 'Rylan: How To Be In Love' and he recently made a cheeky remark about his relationship with Rob Rinder

Rylan Clark has playfully suggested he might as well "put a ring on it" with fellow TV host Rob Rinder, likening their dynamic to that of a married couple.

The quip emerged during an interview with the Reverend Richard Coles on The X Factor star's BBC series 'Rylan: How To Be In Love', after the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! favourite made a humorous observation about his rapport with Rob.

Strictly Come Dancing's Richard Coles remarked: "You've got Rob Rinder all over you like a rash", to which Rylan agreed and responded: "We are like a married couple, we row all the time and don't have sex like a proper married couple. We might as well put a ring on it."

Despite the jest, Rylan has clarified on Radio 2 that his relationship with Rob is strictly platonic, following fan speculation fuelled by their close interaction on their Grand Tour travel series for the BBC.

In his podcast series, Rylan has candidly shared his experiences of seeking love post-divorce, expressing his apprehension about re-entering the dating scene.

He told Richard about his split from former husband Dan Neal. He said: "I want to find the next love of my life. I've been married, I thought I'd found the love of my life, I hadn't.

"As much as my ex didn't pass away, I still went through that grief in my own way. For a long time I thought, 'I'm going to be single forever, like, how can I meet someone now?'".

Rylan opened up about the challenges of dating when in the public eye, echoing sentiments previously expressed by Richard Coles about his late husband David Coles.

In a candid interview with the Guardian after David's passing in December 2019, Richard discussed the complexities of being a public figure and how it impacted their relationship.

He shared: "One of the problems David had was that the public life I led meant that people felt they had a sort of claim on me, and in ways that cut across his claim as my significant other.

"Literally, sometimes people would push him out of the way. He was very good about it. He made a joke about it. But I think it must have been very irritating for him"

Rylan, who rose to fame on The X Factor and is known offstage as Ross, also spoke to Stephen Fry about the dilemma he faces when dating, revealing a question he has to consider with potential partners.

The TV personality explained: "One thing I'm finding really difficult when it comes down to dating is that people think I'm Rylan when, in honesty, I'm Ross.

"I need to work out, 'Do you want to date Rylan and what Rylan can give you, or do you want to date the real me?'" he pondered.

Stephen empathised with Rylan's predicament, although he admitted that his own husband Elliott doesn't share the same problem due to a dislike of public events.

He said: "I do know what you mean exactly, because I don't, at home, quote poems and literature and use long words.

"One thing I think is good and it's not to diss other types, but as it happens, Elliott is not interested in red carpets and glamorous openings and things like that.

"Being famous is a picnic, but occasionally at a picnic there will be wasps and the wasps are the press and the trolls who will drive you indoors as it were, and you're aware that you're giving that as a problem to someone who comes into your life."
