The top restaurants in the UK right now have been revealed at a prestigious awards ceremony celebrating dining excellence.

A list of the Top 100 restaurants was announced by the prestigious National Restaurant Awards for 2025 on Monday night.

The winners were announced at a ceremony held at The Magazine London, with The Ritz in London named the Best Restaurant in the UK 2025. Led by veteran chef John Williams MBE, the restaurant finally climbed to the top of the prestigious list having been a regular on it for many years.

In second place was Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall in West Lancashire, which won a third Michelin star this year. Birchall also took home this year’s coveted Chef of the Year award.

Amongst its other winners for 2025 are two highly esteemed Manchester restaurants - one of which picked up its first Michelin Star earlier this year.

Higher Ground on New York Street in the city centre placed at number 36, which is a slight fall from its position the previous year, but still the highest ranking for Greater Manchester.

In 2024, it landed in 16th position and was joined by Manchester restaurants Mana and Higher Ground.

Run by Daniel Craig-Martin, Richard Cossins and Joe Otway, Higher Ground celebrates ‘regenerative farming and local produce’, with around 90 per cent of the ingredients included in its menu sourced from Cinderwood farm in Nantwich.

The trio, who also operate Flawd at Islington Marina, have racked up a number of awards since first conceiving the idea as a pop-up in 2020 and are recommended by the Michelin Guide too.

They're joined by Skof, the Manchester restaurant that has had a spectacular rise since opening its doors last May.

Taking 60th position in the top 100, the restaurant, which is helmed by L’Enclume alumnus Tom Barnes, opened inside a old textile building on Federation Street in the city centre last May and has had tables booked out ever since.

Within just a few months, It was selected as Michelin's one to watch, named the Best New Restaurant at the Good Food Guide and landed two awards at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards. Then in February, it landed the biggest gastronomic award going, receiving its first Michelin Star.

The top 100 list, which this year was heavily dominated by culinary outposts in the capital, did also feature a number of acclaimed North West eateries.
